In a recent development that stands as a testament to innovative collaboration and community-oriented progress, the Alperton Bus Garage project has marked a significant milestone in providing affordable housing within Brent. This initiative, which is a result of a strategic partnership between Telford Homes and Greenstone, aims to address the pressing housing needs of the area. With the completion of a deal on 14 June 2023, Greenstone has acquired the affordable housing component of the scheme, contributing 155 new affordable homes to the community. This development underscores the commitment of all parties involved to work hand in hand with Brent Council, addressing the substantial demand for accessible housing solutions.

The origins of this impactful project trace back to November 2021 when Telford Homes, seizing an opportunity to repurpose the site of the former Alperton Bus Garage, received the green light from Brent Council. The vision was clear - to transform an industrial site into a flourishing residential and commercial hub. Upon its slated completion in 2025, the comprehensive scheme will introduce 461 new homes to the market, a mix of build-to-rent and affordably priced units, all woven into new retail, community spaces, and public realm enhancements. Not stopping at housing, the redevelopment plans also include 2,550m^2 of light industrial space named Alperton Yard, designed to bolster small businesses and the creative industries, further invigorating the local economy with 150 new job opportunities.

Jerome Geoghegan, Group Land & Planning Director at Telford Homes, along with Ryan Mitchell, Managing Director from Greenstone, have both expressed their delight and gratitude for the collaboration, emphasizing the project's role in bringing much-needed affordable homes to the area and aiding in the creation of sustainable communities. Brent Council has warmly welcomed the development, with Councillor Promise Knight highlighting the project's alignment with the broader goal of creating secure, long-term housing options for families, anchoring their hopes and ambitions.

As the Alperton Bus Garage development progresses, it exemplifies how strategic partnerships and a unified vision can lead to transformative outcomes for communities, especially in areas with critical housing shortages. The synergy between Telford Homes, Greenstone, and Brent Council serves as a blueprint for addressing urban housing challenges, promising a vibrant and inclusive future for the residents of Brent.
